New Dashboard? New Card! Try the NXE GamerCard Theme

With the advent of the ‘New Xbox Experience’, we naturally set out to capture the clean look and feel that the new Dashboard provides. What began as a little software test a few months ago and put on the backburner has quickly exploded into a full theme over the past couple of weeks.

As you can see, Avatar support has come to MGC, along with some sexy reflection effects. This is a perfect opportunity for those in the NXE Preview program to put those Avatars to good use! In addition, we’ve also changed the normal GamerCards to display your Avatar picture ahead of the Xbox.com overhaul that will allow everyone to see them.

For the rest of us that still have a few weeks before getting the new Dashboard, there’s a default (Microsoft-made) Avatar in place.

I’ll be tweaking things based on user feedback over the next week or so; placements, sizing, etc. We think it looks great as it is, but if you feel strongly about seeing something modified, let us know!

Special thanks go out to Dynamo Matt for his help, as well as the Xbox MVPs for their crucial feedback!

why did they ask rare to make them?

To justify the hundreds of millions of dollars MS spent on acquiring them is my best guess.

What would be extra-special-sweet would be to see your current GS underneath each tile in your gamercard instead of having to click on the gametile like with the old ones. Nice work Adam.

Can we get a vertical one?

What sort of dimensions were you thinking about?

I'm personally really looking forward to the avatars. It would have been cool if gamerpics could be turned into T-shirts or hats or something, best of both worlds. I was wondering, will the NXE card be available in Flash? Just out of curiosity smile.gif

Will this new gamercard replace the one being used for every member on the board (ie. the one that's directly under our board username)? I'm guessing not due to its current size, but confirmation would be nice.

Also, where does the Gold member status vs. Silver member status go on the new cards? Along the bottom there that I already see a faint grey bar with my GT and GS? Again, if there's any way to have our GS per game played showing directly under each gamertile, that'd be a real knock-out punch IMO.

I actually really like this new card, good job again.

Cant we just have our display picture there instead of our avatars, like as a new card design?

How do I change to this nxe gamercard?

  13. Morgon says:

Use the form on the front page of MGC and select NXE as your theme.

nice. is there a slightly smaller version perhaps ? something a little shorter. gametrailers doesnt allow anything above 100pixel height and this gamercard is sadly 135.

Looks fine, I am not sure why Avatars are such a problem for people it is just like Gamertags and Gamerpics - just create a silly one or one that looks nothing like you then forget about it!
